This project began with a call from Ashley Jordan of One Stop Organisers, aka the “Fairy Godperson”, a fellow member of the Putney 7AM networking group. Ashley is a Project Manager who oversees property moves and renovations, coordinating with building contractors, cleaners and decorators to make transitions smooth and hassle-free for her clients. Ashley was applying her organisational talent to a renovation project, inside the top floor apartment of a beautiful Georgian mansion, overlooking the heath. The client was seeking bespoke, fitted furniture for two bedrooms and we were delighted to work on this project together.

We designed and created three pieces of furniture, to fit perfectly inside this stunning, period apartment: two matching built-in wardrobes, with soft close sliding opaque glass doors from our friends at Quintessential; and a large, free-standing shelving unit with a particularly tricky twist.

As shown, the wardrobes were fitted into alcoves already present in the property. Of course, along with all the charm of period properties, there comes the additional challenge of irregular wall angles, so it was important to be exact as ever with our measurements.

Building fitted furniture in this manner is an excellent way to maximise space and light in your home.

In this case we already had an amazing space to work with – the flat is spacious, airy and flooded with natural light, as well as having a beautiful view over the heath.

After completing the two wardrobes, we turned our attention to the challenging dimensions of the large shelving unit, pictured here. A large piece of furniture like this was clearly going to transform the space and we were excited to see the design come to life. When taking measurements for the shelving unit, we found the floor in the study – where the shelves were due to sit – was not level. As displayed in this image, we had to create the whole unit on a carefully tapered base, to ensure every shelf was perfectly level – challenge accepted!

All the pieces look great and integrate perfectly with the overall renovation of the apartment. Once the job was complete, our friends at Gertrude & Ivy – also fellow members of the 7AM Putney networking group – visited the property to style and photograph the project.

We are delighted to say the client was very happy with our work. We would like to congratulate Ashley on a good job well done, and thank her for inviting us to be involved in such an interesting and challenging project – may there be many more!
